BasicsOMyoga_class_basic_tree

Start where you are! Basic level classes help you cultivate power in your legs and core, beginning with standing poses! This class will help you open up areas of tightness such as hips and shoulders and get you moving with basic Sun Salutations sequences -- always with safety and a lot of attention from your teacher. You'll be introduced to your breath, your mind and other people who think it's fun to stretch.

*This level is great for you if: you are a beginner, are recovering from an injury, just had a baby, want to get back into shape, or you just want to take it slow today.

Practice basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness.

ABSOLUTE Basics: BASICS 1: Perfect for beginners. If you have never practiced yoga before, this friendly, welcOMing OM yoga class is for YOU. 1 hour 15 minutes.

BASICS & (FUNdamentals): BASICS 2: This class is recommended for beginning students new to OM yoga. Principles of alignment, breathing and mindfulness are taught in elemental versions of basic poses.


BASICS/INTERMEDIATE
- Recommended for students who have been regularly attending basics classes but wish to transition into Intermediate classes with a more vigorous class that introduces jumpbacks and inversions. 1 hour 25 minutes.


BRAND NEW BEGINNERS
- 6 week workshop series for the absolute beginner. Great for students who enjoy practicing with a consistent group and teacher. Go into detail and build a strong foundation for your yoga practice. Class size is limited. Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:45 pm, click to learn more.

Intermediate

Intermediate classes turn you upside down! With detailed stepping stones, develop the strength in your upper body to practice fun arm balances and inversions. We also begin flowing through Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar A & B), learn Chaturanga Dandasana, and begin jumping back. Find out about the secret toe movement and how to blossom a lotus!

 

*This level is right for you if: you are ready to work on arm balances, inversions, chaturanga, and are ready for more flow in your practice. Advanced students are welcome at this level if they are looking for a slightly slower class. Not sure if you're ready for Intermediate? If Basics is not challenging you, then give it a try!


Advanced

OM yoga Advanced classes New York CityNews flash -- you do NOT need to BE advanced to come to advanced class. And it's not scary at all. The same friendly teachers you had in your other levels will be your guides as what you've learned before -- asana, pranayama, yoga philosophy -- comes together! Here is where you work on the stamina to do longer headstands and shoulder stands, discover more ways to bend backward, explore lotus, bindings and deep twists and experience the sweaty aliveness of asana practice.

*This level is right for you if: you have already received instruction in inversions and arm balances and are ready to learn more.

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED - This class is recommended for strong intermediates who are ready to transition into the challenge of advanced level classes. 1 hour 40 minutes.


ADVANCED - The most challenging level, recommended for people who are ready for advanced variations of inversions, jumpbacks, backbends, binds and lotus. 1 hour 40 minutes.



Open Level Classes

OPEN - All levels welcome. Previous yoga experience strongly recommended. 1 hour 30 minutes.

COMMUNITY
- Experience OM yoga with up & coming teachers in this all-level cOMmunity class. ONLY $5 or any class card. 1 hour 30 minutes.

YOGA EXPRESS - An all-level class for folks with limited yoga time! (See special Express prices on Price List.) 1 hour.

SWEATY EXPRESS - A one hour class that keeps moving Detox mind, body and soul, burn calories and strengthen your heart. All levels welcome. 1 hour.

OM STRETCH - Let go of your week through juicy poses that stretch, open, lengthen and relax you. Open level. 1 hour 15 minutes.

OPEN & RESTORATIVE - Rejuvenating class that is 2/3 open level asana & 1/3 restorative postures. All levels welcome. 1 hour 40 minutes.

INTERMEDIATE & RESTORATIVE - Rejuvenating class that is 2/3 open level asana & 1/3 restorative postures. All levels welcome. 1 hour 40 minutes.

STRETCH & RESTORATIVE - Let go of the effort of the week with juicy stretching followed by a relaxing & rejuvenating practice with props in comfortable positions. Open level. 1 hour 25 minutes.

PRENATAL - Prepare for labor by maintaining flexibility in the muscles as well as building strength to ensure an easier labor and post-partum recovery. 1 hour 15 minutes.

OM yoga FOR WOMEN CANCER SURVIVORS - A drop-in class, every Tuesday from 3:45 - 5:15pm & Saturdays from 2:30-3:45pm for survivors of breast cancer and other cancers.
This gentle class offers inspiration and bonding for women with breast cancer and other cancers, includes breathing exercises, slow arm stretches, healing yoga sequences, restorative yoga and balancing work appropriate for women during and after cancer treatment. $5. 1 hour 30 minutes.

Ask your OM yoga teacher. If you've been taking basics, you can try basics/intermediate. If you've been taking intermediate, try intermediate/advanced. You don't have to be advanced to try an advanced class! That's how you get there.
